A.K.G Memorial Co-operative College of Nursing (AKGMCCON), a unit of Kannur Co-operative Hospital Society Ltd. No. C-834, was established in August 2008 as a tribute to the legendary leader Sri. A.K. Gopalan (AKG). A distinguished parliamentarian, inspiring orator, and champion of social justice, Sri. A.K. Gopalan dedicated his life to the welfare and upliftment of the poor and marginalized sections of society. The institution was founded to honor his vision of service, compassion, and community development.
Over the years, AKGMCCON has evolved into one of the leading nursing colleges in Kerala, recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, professional ethics, and quality healthcare education. Since December 2010, the college has been functioning in its own modern campus at Mavilayi, the native place of Sri. A.K. Gopalan. Located amidst the serene hills of Kannur district, approximately 10 kilometers from Kannur town, the campus offers a peaceful and pollution-free environment that is ideal for learning, research, and personal growth.
With state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced nursing laboratories, experienced faculty, extensive clinical training facilities, and a strong academic foundation, AKGMCCON offers B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing programmes designed to prepare future healthcare leaders.
