Mental Health Nursing

The Department of Mental Health Nursing is dedicated to preparing nursing professionals who are competent, compassionate, and committed to promoting mental health and well-being. The department focuses on providing comprehensive education, clinical training, and research opportunities that enable students to deliver quality mental healthcare across diverse healthcare settings.

Our mission is to develop skilled nursing professionals capable of addressing the psychological, emotional, and social needs of individuals, families, and communities. The department emphasizes holistic care, evidence-based practice, ethical values, and patient-centered approaches in mental health nursing.

The department is supported by a team of experienced and highly qualified faculty members who guide students through Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) nursing programmes. Through innovative teaching methods, simulation-based learning, case discussions, seminars, and clinical postings, students gain a strong foundation in psychiatric and mental health nursing.

Students receive extensive clinical exposure in various mental health settings, enabling them to develop essential assessment, communication, counseling, and therapeutic skills. Faculty members actively participate in research activities, journal clubs, continuing nursing education programmes, and professional development initiatives to ensure the delivery of contemporary and evidence-based education.

The department strives to create a supportive and enriching learning environment that encourages critical thinking, empathy, leadership, and professional growth. Graduates are equipped to provide comprehensive mental healthcare, promote mental wellness, and contribute effectively to multidisciplinary healthcare teams while maintaining the highest standards of nursing practice.
